The Norseman Bracing System is compatible with standard 20-foot and 40-foot ISO shipping containers, with custom configurations also available for 53-foot containers upon request. Use 91-5/8” 2x4 lumber in spruce, pine, or fir that’s #2-&-better quality as braces. The bulkheads come in a tri-fold configuration that can be folded along the perforations and fit snugly in place in standard and ISO containers. Be sure your container fits the bulkhead and braces before you order.

The system includes a corrugated bulkhead and restraining caps or steel bracing bars, either square or round. These components work together to create a secure load restraint solution during shipping. The wood bracing system uses 2x4 lumber and bracing end caps that slot onto the 2x4 brace. The steel bars are square tubes, with no caps needed, and can be secured to the bulkhead using zip ties inserted through designed perforations in the bulkhead face where the bars are meant to hang.

Are there any maintenance tips for the bracing system?

One important tip is to store the bracing caps and wood braces at room temperature in a dry, safe location. The bulkhead and bracing cap system is also 100% recyclable with no special disposal conditions. The bracing cap system is very cost-effective, so replacing 2x4s and installing a new corrugated bulkhead is easier on the wallet than with other bulkhead containment systems.

No, this system virtually eliminates the need for ties to secure the wood bracing to the bulkhead and can be done by one person. The reinforcement caps are installed easily with a friction fit into the U-channel on the container wall. Note: Ties may be required for tilt loading with an installed bulkhead system
